Heart and Vascular Care at Riverside
Riverside Methodist Hospital is home to the largest open-heart surgery program in central Ohio and one of the largest cardiology and electrophysiology programs in the country.
With the only "round the clock" interventional cardiology team in Ohio, our heart attack patients are treated faster and, on average, receive an angioplasty in just over 50 minutes after arriving in the Emergency Department. This is compared to the national goal of 90 minutes and beats the national average of 120 minutes.

World-Class Heart Care Under One Roof
A world-class, full-service heart hospital, the McConnell Heart Hospital at Riverside features the latest technology, procedures and clinical trials across specialties, performed by board-certified cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, interventional radiologists and highly experienced staff.
But the world-class medical care is just the beginning. Patients at the McConnell Heart Hospital at Riverside receive one-on-one consultations with cardiovascular specialists who determine the best treatment options. It's just one reason why we are consistently recognized nationally for our heart and vascular services.
The Right Stents at the Right Time
Riverside Methodist Hospital is the only hospital in central Ohio with a comprehensive supply of drug-eluting stents, mesh tubes used to prop open clogged arteries. It means patients are treated immediately, as opposed to waiting for the right sized drug-eluting stent or receiving a bare-metal stent. Riverside physicians were some of the first in the country to use drug-eluting stents, now considered the first major breakthrough in the treatment of heart disease in 25 years.
An Innovative Non-Surgical Procedure: PFO Closure
Riverside Methodist Hospital cardiologists treat patent foramen ovale (PFO) and paradoxical embolization with an innovative non-surgical closure procedure to help prevent future strokes. If you have concerns about this condition for yourself or a loved one, talk to your primary care provider or a Riverside Methodist cardiologist.
