Support Groups at OhioHealth

Dealing with life’s challenges can be easier when you share them with others.

Our support groups are designed to provide a safe haven where people with similar problems can experience emotional and moral support and get useful information. You don’t have to feel alone when life gets tough.

Breast Cancer Support Groups:

Support for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Offers an opportunity for sharing thoughts, feelings and similar experiences.

Breast Cancer Support Group - Grady / Delaware
Offers information and education for survivors and their support person.

Breast Cancer Support Group - Riverside / Columbus
The Breast Cancer Support Group meets once each month at the Elizabeth Blackwell Center at Riverside.
The group is open to survivors only. Call (614) 566-3498 to register. 

Breastfeeding Moms Group

Join other breastfeeding mothers and share breastfeeding experiences and information. A lactation consultant is available to answer questions.  Women's Center at Riverside.

Diabetes Support Groups:

Diabetes Peer Support Group - Grady / Delaware
The Sunbury Diabetes Support Group, co-sponsored by Grady Memorial Hospital, meets at the Sunbury United Methodist Church. Anyone with diabetes and/or support persons are invited. Registration not required.

Diabetes Support Group - McConnell / Columbus
Support for adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes and their family members through discussions and speakers. The group meets six times per year. Call (614) 566-5356 for more information. McConnell Heart Health Center. 

Lympedema Support Group

This group provides support and education to those who have been diagnosed with lymphedema.
Westerville Medical Center. (614) 533-3200.

New Moms Group

New mothers and babies (from birth to 12 months) meet with one another and share information. A parent consultant is available for questions. No registration required. For more information, call Yvonne Gustafson, PhD, (614) 566-4446. Elizabeth Blackwell Center at Riverside.

Young Adult Stroke and Support Group

An education and support program for stroke survivors ages 18 to 60, families and caregivers.

Grief

HomeReach Hospice grief support programs are offered at Kobacker House (614) 566-4509 and the Hope Center at Grady (740) 615-0558. All group meetings are FREE. Counseling services are also available. Please call to register.

Steps Toward Healing
Support for adults who have lost a loved one.  Group meets weekly for eight sessions. Kobacker House. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509. 

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group
For parents who have lost a baby before, during or within the first year after birth.  Meets once a month.  Kobacker House. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509. 

Stepping Stones
For children ages 6 to 12 years who have lost a loved one. Discussion and sharing through activities. Concurrent meeting held for parents/adults.  One Saturday per month.  Kobacker House. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509. 

Pathfinder Teen Group
Support for teenagers 13 to 18 years old who have lost someone close to them. Kobacker House. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509. 

Small Steps Pre-school Program (a story hour)
A grief support group with activities and discussion for parents and children ages 3 to 5 years about coping with loss. One Saturday per month.  Kobacker House. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509. 

Widows-Widowers Support Group
For adults who have lost a spouse. Meets once per month. Call for dates and times: (614) 566-4509.

If you are a younger man or woman or still working and have lost your spouse, you are facing unique challenges. Learn how to cope with strong feelings and deal with practical issues. Meets once per month.
